On-Site Water Well Selection

Connecticut Valley Artesian Well Co Inc will visit you at your property to view the proposed well site. The single biggest determining factor will be the location proposed for the septic system and any buried oil tanks.

Connecticut and Massachusetts have minimum distance requirements of 75'+ and 100', respectively. Of course, the location/position of the house and accessibility of the lot to the drilling equipment are also considered. At this time, based upon estimated water needs, the depth of the wells in the area, and the pumping equipment required, you will be provided with an estimate and a contract for the mutual protection of all parties.

Most localities require a permit to be taken out before the well is installed. Connecticut Valley Artesian Well Co Inc will procure all necessary paperwork. Most helpful in obtaining town permission is a copy of the plot plan from the civil engineer responsible for designing the septic system. Call (413) 525-7656.

Five-Step Drilling Process

  1. An 8 1/2″ diameter hole is first drilled into the soil down into the bedrock.
  2. A 6″ diameter steel pipe "casing" is then placed into this hole. This casing is fitted with a "drive shoe" which, when driven into the bedrock, forms an effective seal, keeping out dirt, stone, and surface water which could carry contaminates.
  3. Drilling continues into bedrock until a sufficient water supply is reached. The drilling may vary from 30 ft. to several hundred feet, depending on geological formations.
  4. At this point, the constant rate of flow is determined — represented by gallons per minute. Together, the G.P.M. and depth of the well (which acts as a reservoir) along with the known demand or usage, yield the formula for a successful well.
  5. With the drilling completed and yield determined, the last step is to select and install the proper pump, tank and controls. The pump size (a submersible type, located in the well shaft) is determined by the depth of the well, the G.P.M., and the static water level. As an experienced well pump service in Ludlow, MA, we’ll ensure the pump is the correct size for your needs. The water tank is the only piece of equipment besides a control box that is installed in the residence ensuring quiet operation. With this final step, all is ready for the plumbing to be connected to the water tank.

CT Valley Artesian Well is a great choice for whatever well issue you have. We had a new deep well put in. They were very communicative through the whole process, and always discussed with us first. They sell a top-notch product, no knockoffs or cheapos here. They also connect the whole thing. They drill and install the well pump, and the tanks and controller. All you have to do is run pipe and hire an electrician. We are very happy with our new well, it is totally worth the price! Top-quality for sure!!
